Marianne Lorensen is our new Ag Ed faculty member who will be teaching AFEE 2221 and AFEE 4221 this spring. She will also have the task of developing other leadership courses. Currently, Marianne is completing her Ph.D. in Human Sciences and Leadership Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She has her B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from the University of Kentucky, her M.Ed. in Youth and Family Education from Pennsylvania State University, and her M.Ed. in Educational Organization and Leadership (Higher Education Administration) from the University of Illinois. Her career has been in higher education, including both student and academic affairs. She instructed leadership courses at the University of Illinois and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to coming to the University of Minnesota.
Her current research interests focus on the development of socially responsible leadership, college student leadership development, and faculty perspectives about the use of service-learning in the leadership classroom. Marianne loves leadership and working with college students, she is looking forward to the new experience here at the University of Minnesota.
